Construction is underway! Below is a list of upcoming construction activities. The 30-day outlook serves as a guide for upcoming construction. Construction schedules can change due to weather and other circumstances. This page is updated once a month.

North Segment

January 2017

Denton

Construction

  • Beam setting for the North Texas Boulevard bridge occurred in December and work to complete the span has begun. The additional lanes of the North Texas Boulevard bridge are scheduled to open in February.
  • North and southbound I-35E traffic has shifted onto new temporary pavement at the North Texas Boulevard bridge providing additional clearance for oversized vehicles.
  • McCormick Street is closed between the north- and southbound frontage roads through February for bridge construction. Traffic is free-flow on the frontage roads during this closure.
  • Work lengthening and widening the entrance and exit ramps between Fort Worth Drive and Teasley Lane continues. Traffic will use temporary ramps – such as the one in place at the southbound entrance ramp from Teasley Road – until the permanent ramps are completed. This work will continue into spring.
  • The US 77/Dallas Drive bridge has reopened. Work has begun on the southbound entrance ramp from US 77/Dallas Drive scheduled to reopen in February.
  • The northbound mainlanes between the U-turn at Destiny Dallas RV Park and Post Oak Drive are scheduled to shift east onto permanent pavement in January. All entrance and exit ramps will shift into their permanent alignment and northbound exit ramp to Post Oak Drive will reopen.

Corinth

Construction

  • The northbound mainlanes between the U-turn at Destiny Dallas RV Park and Post Oak Drive are scheduled to shift east onto permanent pavement in February. All entrance and exit ramps will shift into their permanent alignment and northbound exit ramp to Post Oak Drive will reopen.
  • The northbound entrance ramp from Swisher Road shifted north in December. A new exit ramp is being constructed at the location of the original entrance ramp and will open spring 2017.
  • Westbound Corinth Parkway will remain closed between the DCTA tracks and the northbound frontage road through Jan. 30 for drainage work. Eastbound Corinth Parkway will be closed to through traffic at this location in February.
  • Work continues on the new Turbeville Road/Hundley Drive underpass and the new Oak/Lake Dallas Drive underpass. Both are scheduled for completion in mid-2017.

Middle Segment

January 2017

Lewisville

Construction 

  • The remaining beams for the Fox Avenue bridge are scheduled to be placed late January.
  • A full closure of the Corporate Drive bridge is scheduled over a weekend in February.  Motorists will use FM 3040/Round Grove Road and State highway 121 Business as detours.
  • A full closure the Main Street/FM 1171 bridge is scheduled over a weekend in February.  Motorists will use Valley Ridge Boulevard and Fox Avenue as detours.
  • The FM 407 intersection is expected to fully reopen this spring. Crews are finalizing the decorative paving and aesthetic work on the interchange.  
  • Work continues on the ramps connecting I-35E and the Garden Ridge Boulevard bridge.
  • The southbound connector/distributor system between the Sam Rayburn Tollway and the President George Bush Turnpike is scheduled to open in February. This consists of parallel lanes that run between the mainlanes and frontage roads that will keep traffic between the two toll roads from entering the southbound I-35E mainlanes.

Highland Village

Construction

  • Work on Highland Village Road at the I-35E southbound frontage road is scheduled for completion by spring 2017.
  • Construction of Copperas Branch Park is scheduled to begin by the end of the year and work on Highland Lakes Park will start in early 2017.

Hickory Creek

Construction

  • The northbound mainlanes between the U-turn at Destiny Dallas RV Park and Post Oak Drive are scheduled to shift east onto permanent pavement in February. All entrance and exit ramps will shift into their permanent alignment and northbound exit ramp to Post Oak Drive will reopen.
  • The northbound entrance ramp from Swisher Road shifted north in December. A new exit ramp is being constructed at the location of the original entrance ramp and will open spring 2017.
  • Work continues on the new Turbeville Road/Hundley Drive underpass and the new Oak/Lake Dallas Drive underpass. Both are scheduled for completion in this summer.

Lake Dallas

Construction

South Segment

January 2017

Farmers Branch

Construction

  • Beam placement and bridge deck construction for the Wishbone ramps continues.  Motorists should expect nightly, partial and full closures, of the mainlanes between Royal Lane and Interstate 635 into February.
  • Deck work on the wishbone bridges and fascia wall work for the westbound I-635 to southbound I-35E bridge will continue in January.
  • Rehabilitation work on the Valwood Parkway bridge will continue through January. The U-turn lanes will remain closed during this work and motorists should expect full overnight closures of the intersection.
  • The southbound connector/distributor system between the Sam Rayburn Tollway and the President George Bush Turnpike is scheduled to open in February. This system consists of parallel lanes that run between the mainlanes and frontage roads that will keep traffic between the two toll roads from entering the southbound I-35E mainlanes.

Carrollton

Construction

  • Deck work continues at the new Belt Line Road interchange. While this work is underway, motorists should expect overnight lane reductions and closures of the Belt Line Road intersection.
  • Westbound traffic is scheduled to be placed on the new northbound I-35E mainlane bridge over Belt Line Road in early February.
  • Broadway Street north of Belt Line Road is scheduled to reopen to traffic in February.  The median will remained closed. The south half of the intersection is scheduled to temporarily close in February.
  • The median of Belt Line Road will be rebuilt at Main Street/N. Denton Drive over a full weekend in February. During this work, north and southbound traffic at Main Street/N. Denton Drive must turn left onto Belt Line Road.
  • The northbound entrance ramp from Frankford Road will close for approximately three months in February.  Motorists will use the entrance ramp near State Highway 121.
  • The southbound connector/distributor system between the Sam Rayburn Tollway and the President George Bush Turnpike is scheduled to open in February. This consists of parallel lanes that run between the mainlanes and frontage roads that will keep traffic between the two toll roads from entering the southbound I-35E mainlanes.
